The cruisers are bigger...faster..heavier than ever and the m/c tire manufactures are not producing a tire that holds up with that demand that lasts...but do yourself a favor and get it in writing from your insurance company that it is O.K. with them for you to go darkside...just an opinion...Ride safe...
http://bikebuffs.com/questions/13/pros-and-cons-harley-vs-metric-cruisers/123#123 Answer by unknown (yahoo) for Pros and cons: Harley vs. Metric cruisers unknown (yahoo) 2010-01-27T23:58:33Z 2010-01-27T23:58:33Z
I Love riding and I respect all riders and what they choose. in my 35 years of riding I have done them all...Knuckleheads,shovels,pans, and of course the wonderous AMF years of H/D's Worked and worked and worked lovingly on all of them to keep them going. When I became a grandfather approx 10 years ago I bought a little yammy V twin 650 to commute to work and play on weekends. It then became a joy to ride again... I relised that you could fill up your tank and just go without worring about making it home. Since I do my own maint and I do not abuse the machine I have gotten 114,000 miles on the little V-star. I recently moved up to a 2008/ 1900 stratloiner (The dealers are making deals to move old inventory) No-one and I mean No-one out there has a bike that looks, rides, handles and runs with the big strat for the same money No-one!!!... Like I said I respect what others own ride and love but..If you don't mind working on a harley... buy a harley..Just an opinion... ride safe...
http://bikebuffs.com/questions/19/learning-to-ride-where-to-start/102#102 Answer by unknown (yahoo) for Learning to ride, where to start? unknown (yahoo) 2010-01-17T03:02:35Z 2010-01-17T03:02:35Z
Hands down the easyist way to go is to go online to the harley davidson web site and it will direct you to the riders edge school that they sponser. you will find a class operating in your area and you will also find a specific schedule of those particular classes. they will get you the learning permit..supply the motorcycle...and also give you the drivers test both written and the driving of the bike.. you only need to go to the dmv after the successfull completion of the school and the dmv mearly presents you with your motorcycle license..the people at the riders edge school will work with each persons skill level untill you pass... I had several of my children (girls who never sat on a motorcycle before) go through the school and they treated them great!! Don't wait to long to sign up the classes are usually are booked full months in advance...
http://bikebuffs.com/questions/80/stripped-threads-use-self-tapping-oversized-bolt/101#101 Answer by unknown (yahoo) for Stripped threads, use self tapping oversized bolt? unknown (yahoo) 2010-01-17T02:28:21Z 2010-01-17T02:28:21Z
I have found In my meger experence there are self tapping replacement oil drain plugs desighned just for that reason. you first must find an experenced parts man to establish the exact size of the original plug and then find the repair plug specific for the repair... for example if the plug is a 1/2 inch standard thread you ask for a 1/2 inch single oversise repair plug...the repair plugs are self tapping so all you have to do is carefully wrench the repair plug into the hole untill seated then remove(to wash the shavings off) the plug install the gasket and re install fill with oil and ride!!!
