Aside from looks or preventing burns, I've heard that heat-taping your exhaust can improve performance by keeping the exhaust gasses hotter through the whole pipe.

Has anybody done this and noticed any gains? I'd love to hear about some dyno results, but I'd just love to hear about anybody's "gut feel" who has done this.

Not much if at all. A little on a car since it will make the engine scavenge better. with my buell it just makes the muffler hotter but it does offer a nice spot to warm dry my leather gloves while i am gassing up
